Our Story
Hi there - I'm Emily, the creator and owner of South Loop Scents!
A life long lover of crafting, candles, and knitting, I created South Loop Scents shorty after moving to Chicago's South Loop in 2022. Crafting has always been a stress relieving outlet to me, and I love sharing this passion with customers and creating pieces for any occasion, such as birthdays, holidays, and baby showers.
Largely unknown by most, the majority of companies in the beauty and fragrance industry test their products and ingredients on animals such as dogs, cats, pigs, bunnies, and mice. These types of testing are extremely cruel and unnecessary, especially given scientific and technological developments over the past several decades that are more reliable. As a vegan and as someone who only shops cruelty-free products, I wanted to create candles, wax melts, and home decor pieces that are kind to both our planet and animal friends.
With these values at the center of everything I do, my candles are handcrafted in small batches using organic soy wax, vegan colors, and all natural fragrances and essential oils so you can enjoy a clean, non-toxic burn. You can indulge in our candles and wax melts guilt-free knowing each product is cruelty-free handmade.
Our candles, wax melts, and home decor pieces are all handmade by me in my home studio, where I enjoy stunning views of Chicago's skyline and downtown while I create each product by hand. In my free time, I love to cook vegan desserts, spend time with Miss Nelly (my rescue beagle), and go for long walks on Chicago's riverwalk.
